In my opinion, Merrill Lynch never physically bought or sold the stock. They were given the shares as collateral to securitise another loan/investment. Once that investment/loan was closed, the stock was returned to the owner - similar to any margin loan etc. Pretty good sign that Merrill are happy to accept ADY as collaterall.
