A JETSTAR aircraft has been quarantined at the Gold Coast Airport after a crew member found white powder on board.
Before passengers had boarded the 6.20am (AEST) flight to Sydney, the crew member found about half a cup of unidentified powder at the rear of the aircraft.
The plane was evacuated and isolated by Australian Federal Police who are examining the powder.
Jetstar spokeswoman Simone Pregellio said the service was cancelled, and passengers re-routed on to other Jetstar and Qantas services from the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
"All passengers will get to their destination today, albeit delayed," she has said.
"We apologise for the delay, however, this is the procedure we must follow when something unidentifiable is found."
Equipment used to unload baggage was also quarantined, causing delays for passengers on two flights which arrived at the Gold Coast this morning.
Other Gold Coast airport services are operating as usual.
