    Is it then fair to summarise your position as that what you want is a lower standard of proof for serious crimes? ie make it easier for the prosecution?
    If so the problem with that is in day to day grind of the real world of criminal law innocent people still get charged and sometimes they get convicted. It happens for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes the police are just lazy and don't go the extra yard. Police over reliance on DNA is another where they can get it wrong. It happens.
    I prefer a system with enough checks and balances where the prosecution has to work for a conviction not to have it handed on a plate. If this is antiquarian thinking count me as an antiquarian.
