misty, Australia is one of the most regulated societies around. It doesn't matter how you try to cut it, regulation is discipline. Democracy, depending on how you define it, means that at times one is going to come at the expense of the other. Our political system, where the sitting member is bound more to following the party line, in order to maintain party room discipline, rather than following the wishes of his constituents, is a fair indication of how regulated, and disciplined, we allow ourselves to be at the expense of true democracy.
I don't see the relevance of your question questioning how many admirers of LKY know the origins of his party. I imagine most would, but are you suggesting that the end justifies the means, or the exact opposite?
