the universe is only infinite in 3 dimensions ... if you manage to travel in the 4th dimension (don't ask me what it is ... i don't think it's time) then you can literally step out of our universe. Think of a record player - if you travel along the record's tracks you will keep going round and round forever, but if you lift the needle... you're free :)
