Indeed, if investing was primarily about focusing on the past the greatest investors in the world would be librarians!
Fun point being made but even then, not really...
It all comes down to judgement, and the past needs to be fully considered. Judgement is the context you give to information including the past. Disregarding information shouldn't occur, but you must have a workable explanation for it.
Too many people look at the past and fail to come to terms with it constructively. It means they miss great opportunities like AHZ....
