Every international cricket team has been caught "ball tampering". Why is it OK for players to shine one side of the ball with spit and rubbing, but not OK for players to rough up the other side? All types of ball shining and roughing should be banned. When the ball is dead, the keeper should give the ball to the Umpire who then hands it to the bowler before he starts his run up - just like baseball. Don't crucify Smith and colleagues, penalise yes, but be fair and give him a chance to redeem himself.
