This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Are you the only person in this world who understands the Bible? I assume you understand the meaning of light and darkness in this context, God is not claiming to be light itself?

Don't worry about Darkroom, you don't even agree completely with a single Christian on this site. You may on certain topics but overall you have a unique way of interpreting the Bible. God may not be a God of confusion but don't kid yourself that the vast majority of Christians, you included, aren't confused right up to their back teeth. We are all confused to varying degrees.

What I'm trying to tell you is that the God of the Bible is also the God of science, because we live in a world built by science and 99.9% of our lives are dependant on science, but you would have us believe that when it comes to the Bible you must never test it with science.

If we take Noah's Flood to the top of the highest mountains, well Mt Ararat is over 5,000 meters or 16,000 feet. 40 days of rain to reach such heights is about 400 feet of rain per day or 16.6 inches an hour on every square inch of the planet. I have been in an 8 inch tropical downpour that took place over about an hour and that was something to behold. Now such a volume of water would have added so much more mass to the earth that it would have changed the orbit of earth as a secondary consequence of the flood.

So you tell me, is this a symbolic story or a literal story? Am I adding Darkroom darkness to this story or is wotsup by going against our scientific knowledge and claiming it to be a literal story?
