Good tidings to those that perhaps have never been self respecting pessimists.
Those that have can't seem to find the portal to the exuberant world you speak of. They live in a coccoon that causes "pre-mature evaporation" of the glass contents.

They are never sure if they will find the portal, and in the meantime they reinforce their existing foundations.
They live in hope but its from a pre existing supply. They dont know how to obtain more. The supply dwindles and the glass gets emptier. Believe me, they understand that and are scared of the empty glass, it's coming their way.

Which will come first the finding of the portal or the fully empty glass. Toss a coin.
