I feel like pitching in here. With logic. But no answer.

Aluminium is abundant and cheap. Generally, if aluminium is not strong enough, you just add more aluminium until it is.

But sometimes, the weight or the size of the aluminium becomes a problem. And THIS is where graphene aluminium has a market.

But what applications use aluminum, cannot use steel (which is also cheap and much stronger already).. and are restricted by physical dimensions and/or weight?

This is where things like 'foil' just don't make any economic sense. Graphene is still going to be expensive and significantly increase the cost of the aluminium part. That's the point of FGR's existence. If graphene wasn't going to be expensive, we can't exactly make a lot of money out of selling it eh?

So, the first things that came to mind were of course next generation supersonic aircraft, spacecraft etc etc but Alpaka has already mentioned that it's not an idea that has already been put forward in the mainstream, so all of those ideas are wrong by default.

    What haven't I thought of?

This has made me think deeper about the manufacturing method of aluminium parts. We have extrusions, castings and machining from solid billets... probably covers most of the stuff, right?

I would be surprised if any product that could benefit in this way and also make economic sense was cast. So I'm inclined to think it's something which is manufactured either via extrusion or CNC machining. I think the latter is highly more likely as these products already command a premium price, and are already using the highest quality / strongest method of production.

Although, back to extrusions... I dont know if electrical wire has been suggested but aluminium is a cheap alternative to much more expensive copper. Graphene could make it highly more conductive and stronger which addresses the two reasons aluminium wire sucks.

I totally don't know. And I've been chewing on it for days.
