i think in uk we are still a way off service stations etc but the changes i have seen here first hand are:

1) the first electric black cabs have been launched (black cabs are the iconic london taxi) and the early adopters have noted they are cheaper to run and well received by customers than traditional engines, so i suspect all black cabs will be replaced by EVs over the next 10 years

2) the govt in london has a massive pollution problem with toxic levels of gases way above safe levels in most of zone 1-2 which affects millions of residents, schools, etc. this is a public health crisis similar to china. they are taking action through generous subsidies for new ev purchases of around £6,500 from memory and through a uk govt grabt of around £400,000 matched by industry funding to roll out rapid charging stations across london. in my local area of notting hill/ west london i ride my bicycle past several charging stations on my daily commute.

3) they are trying to reverse the stupid subsidies they gave out to diesel cars 5-10yrs ago because the diesel engines are producing huge toxin levels; they are going to start raising taxes on diesel/ petrol cars and they have aggressive EV targets over coming decades.

4) the govt is funding startups for charging stations uk nationwide similar to what has worked well in norwar and germany.

i dont visit service stations regularly (i dont need a car in central london, i just use zip car for weekend trips etc) but i will keep my eyes peeled for ev charging stations within central london service stations and let you all know what i see.
