internet porn sites legislation...., page-8

BB, I don't particularly care what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home; but I do care what happens in public -be it the street or the internet. We have laws of decency for the street and so, I believe, we ought to have laws of decency for the internet. We are not allowed to perform pornographic acts in a public street. We need to go and seek out places where such acts are performed-why should that be any different with the Internet?
Now, it might be that these laws cannot be put into practice. Fine, then they won't be but I'd like to see the Govn't try.
What I would be hoping for is that porn not necessarily be totally banned but made difficult for children to access. As it is, it clogs my email box on a daily basis. It's easy for me, I don't have any children around and I simply drop it in the spam box without opening it but my first instinct is to say that some regulations ought to apply whereby this didn't need to happen. The initiative should not be left to me to reject the mail but, if I needed that content, to search for it and to have to go through some ID barriers of sorts to get access to it. That's where I'd be hoping the govn't could intervene. If it can't then it can't.
Like I said, if adults want to clog their brains with pornographic material, then that's up to them - I really don't care but let them seek it out rather than by everyone having to be confronted by it on a daily basis.
Let the children have their childhood.
