    I believe that the problem is that we expect our politicians to be perfect.
    That is an impossible target or expectation, they are normal people and suffer from the same problems we all face.

    They have not done any courses to qualify them as politicians, they are not required to do any courses on ethics or any of the other aspects of being a politician and representing the people

    So if we can't get perfection then we have to have a better system which guides them and puts temptation out of reach

    To change the system they need to have a "work contract" which specifies what they have to do and the penalties if they don't
    There has to be some form of scrutiny in the way of a small people voted committee or to introduce the Recall Election system so that their constituents are able to question what they do and act if the politician is not doing his/her job properly

    As long as we allow politicians to do literally anything they want to do we will have a problem, it is simply a child in a lolly shop syndrome and they will always fail the test as there is no restrictions in anything they do
