hi cabri, thanks for your reply. it's great to actually get a response from one of you guys that is something other than "oh you lot are all just bitter for not getting on board", or "trying to buy in cheaper are we?" etc.

with regards to knowing the risks of the market, that old cliche barely needs uttering around here, though i notice it gets used as a defense time and again as though it justifies the whole cross section of trading practices.

why don't momentum traders of "flavour of the month" stocks ever buy into quantifiably undervalued companies and tout the same over the top hype in those forums? i recently asked in here if anyone was interested in knowing of such a stock that had enormous growth potential and was met with a resounding silence. why do they always chose companies that sit in the grey area of "unprovable worth", where resource size is unknown, where timeline to production is enourmous, etc.

because they know that the best rip offs are possible in these little niches. that, perhaps through the good fortune of a 1 in a million shot, they may well have started off the next Paladin, but in all reality that is most unlikely, because we all know how many of these momentum stocks have been well and truly bashed about as the years have gone by. so in percentage terms, even if they WERE on paladin at 2c, who cares when everything else they ever hyped has since crashed and burned.

so you might be right in saying that the market is a cruel place, but i am equally right in saying that the part which is cruelest are the little back slapping circles who have the nerve to criticize anybody that might remind them of the damage they might be causing. perhaps if they were ballsy enough to admit that they were just trying to rip people off then they would earn a bit more respect for having a shred of honesty somewhere within them.
