    To add to my point above, it looks like short sellers are targeting WBC more so than any of the big four. The royal commission does not explain why WBC has been performing more poorly in comparison to CBA over the last month or so - reading this article here : https://www.*.com.au/chart-there-ar...rting-to-target-australian-banks-again-2018-4 it looks like short sellers targeted CBA in Jan then shifted mostly to WBC now. What makes no sense is CBA arguably has a worse reputation than WBC (money laundering scandal, financial planning scandal, departure of Narev etc) yet WBC is targeted??? Add to that CBA is not paying a div in May so what gives? It makes no sense why WBC is targeted over CBA. I'ld speculate the short sellers were burnt in Jan on CBA and are now piling it on WBC judging by the increase in short interest on WBC compared to the reduction in CBA"

    @valakos,

    You'll drive yourself crazy speculating about who is doing what in any given stock on any given day, or why they might be doing whatever it is they are doing. Because you will never know.

    And even if you think you have it roughly figured out, the next day it is all different anyway.
    So "analysing" the share price is a bit of a fool's errand, I believe.

    Instead, far better use of one's time is to focus on the performance of a business itself, and its valuation.

    On that note, at around 11.5x P/E and 7% dividend yield, these represent some of the best valuation metrics at which I can recall WBC being priced for, probably, 6 or 7 years.

    Accordingly, I commenced buying shares yesterday and bought more today.

    I'm not sure if it is the Banking Commission currently underway, or some market anticipation of a meaningful slowdown in property lending that is causing it, but it appears to me like it has left WBC's share price factoring in some pretty bad financial outcomes going forward.
