99.5% is ideal if we just want to sell generic battery grade lithium for ~ US$14k... but that other 0.5% could potentially be worth another US$3k - US$7k on top
If you think about it logically it makes sense.. can a battery manufacturer meet the highest possible quality 90001 type production standards using a 99.5% quality component? No
