G'Day Cabbie,
It's on both CMC and ETrade charting indicators. Never saw a definition, but thought it was something like "Directional Velocity Indicator" or somesuch, and it, combined with the MACD seemed to work well as a signal.
Well, after reading your question (above), decided best to check it out on Google. Saw plenty of how to calculate it, but never an explicit expansion of "DVI". However, it was apparently invented by David Varadi and introduced in 2009 as an indicator tracking 30 years of SPX data (see Quintuitive), so perhaps it stands for "David Varadi Indicator". Completely unintuitive to me and wasn't aware that it was so recent. Positive that I'd seen iit on Etrade well before 2009. But Google ...... ?
Sorry for the unsatisfactory answer - perhaps someone else can further inform us.
Cordially,
