well my recollection of 1987 is that there was a lot more bogus activity then. Where are the Skases and Bonds and Spalvins today ? I guess in about 3 years we will know but the centro dude is not in their league.

Thinks were different in those days. There was no internet. There was no internet trading.

Geez there were more companies falling over 3 or 4 years ago than there have been recently. Think ION and Gwalia and HWE and CRS.

What we are seeing at the moment is a panic which is a bit different from a crash. The bankers are all wetting themselves but the economy is not as crook as they think. The sort of selling you see in some of the more stable blue chips in the last few days, in my opinion, has a lot to do with the fact that a lot of quite rich, fairly conservative, investors with margin loans ( or the equivalent of them ) are starting to get a bit close for comfort to margin calls after a ten percent fall in their portfolios.
