I think the timing of the earlier suspension was more fortuitous than a Machiavellian master-stroke from Dave.
The only reason I can see for the halt for a reseller announcement is if it impacts revenue estimates (up or down) and they're wanting to triple check everything to avoid the ire of the ASX again.
