especially like the comments about how markets can go down and stay down for much longer than you think.

with the majority of the spec stocks which have had runs during this bull market, if you have a look at long term charts you can see long long periods where they did nothing. very low volume and low prices.
this means the strategy of holding on to losing investments in these specs is dangerous unless you are certain for one the company has the cash to survive, and two you are prepared to hold for a long period in case the stock goes through one of these periods.
in a bear market even seemingly very positive news from a spec stock can do very little to the price.

no question nobody can know for sure whether the bull market is over and this is the start of another bear market. no one ever rings a bell at the top or bottom, we can only trade and invest on what we see.
