Might be an idea to write a letter to both of them, I wouldn't email them, and briefly explain some of your concerns about ASIC being toothless and snoozing on the job . Always best to strike when the kettle is hot to achieve maximum value for ones effort.
Keep it short and pregnant with meaning though because they'll think they are busy and won't like a long winded carry on, just highlight some points that matter to spark they're interest . You never know, you may help achieve more funding and teeth for ASIC .
