Absolutely. However I'm sure you will agree that if the alternative was true, TV2 would unlikely put it in an announcement. You mention an announcement from a year ago... what has happened or been mentioned since then? The fact is Boyd is being paid peanuts, has no skin in the game, and seemingly doesn't do a whole lot. I'm happy to hear alternative theories on what's going on in that regard, but I am skeptical Boyd is currently hard at work over in China for TV2s benefit when there is no apparent personal interest for him to do so, and no evidence apart from rhetoric in a year old announcement.
