There are 2 ways Matt 26:28 can be rendered. This IS my blood or This MEANS my blood. Which one stands up to scrutiny?
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this
fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom. (KJV)
It clearly makes no sense to refer to his blood as "fruit of the vine". Jesus also said, “I am the light of the world,” “I am the gate of the sheepfold,” “I am the true vine.” (John 8:12; 10:7; 15:1) None of these expressions implied a miraculous transformation, did they?
