What are the chances of an emergency rate cut tonight before the US opens? I think there is a good chance that Bernie might finally wake up from his slumber, or maybe Bush will wake him up in the middle of the night. Neither of those want to see the Dow fall 500 or 700 points tonight after last week's carnage as the futures is already suggesting.

What would be the point of cutting interest rates next week as scheduled AFTER a crash has occurred?

I think tonight's the night if there will be an emergency rate cut ever.
