Well, from their fiscals it appears the bidder paid $16mUS to hedge the Aussie $.
Good fiscal planning, however it is now a good 5% difference. That is about $80m, or close to the penalty if another bider were to come into play. A couple of more cents to the downside and another US bidder may come out of the woodwork over the next week or so. One can only hope!
I've given up trying to second guess the currency markets, but the 'peace' in the Korean peninsula may boost the US$, so a drop below 75C must be on the cards.
