Re silica.... I worked on a fluid bed with varying amounts of silica in the feed. It can be horrible stuff at a few %. Sticks all the particles together and stops fluidization. The APG process is essentially a "once-through" process, so you won't get silica buildup through recirculation. As long as the feed concentration is acceptable it is not a problem.
