the low end of the australian coffee industry is very saturated and dominated by multinationals. I reckon your best bet would be to target the upper end (which is also quite saturated but probably easier to thrive in) get that real kind of rustic dirtpoor farmer no pesticides cos they cant afford it type picture you mentioned earlier, make appropriate packaging, get on the coffeesnob type forums and try flog it to eastern suburb/byronbay/hipster types and i think you could acutally do quite well. Be prepared to ship green beans too as alot of these types like to do silly things like roast it up in their frypans etc. I hope i haven't offended you but i think you could probably have a good go at it as ive seen that type of thing work before. I come from 3rd generation coffee roasting family (family business still going but i'm not in it) and have been around coffee factories/roasters etc all my life. Did something similar to this back in early 2000's, set up a stall at a fair in one of the hipster areas where i live, served certified organic coffee (the first to do so in my area to my knowledge), made my stall all rustic with hession bags and old surfboards etc and i couldnt make the coffees fast enough. had a line about 5 deep the whole weekend, and i promise you im not lying i ended up getting a swag and sleeping at the stall i was so busy.
