All very true and a good place to start any journey or search from.
The point is that science runs up against barriers to further understanding and we know there is more beyond those barriers simply because the logic of science and philosophy makes this clear.
We know that there is no absolute beginning to anything, including you and I. We know that nothing can come from absolute nothing. And i think that one day science will accept that life is not a spontaneous expression in matter that just happens to mix in exactly some kind of miraculous accident. The process of evolution then being an aspect of the first spark of life is convenient beyond any possible number of computations.
The fact that a sentient being would then break free of natural order and transcend the limits of natural order is also very telling, of what I'm not sure, but it is not an accident, or good fortune, or natural order which is nothing but two world we have invented.
So you are left with natural order being governed by a cognitive, wilful force who has invested purpose into a life-force that has unravelled to produce every creature that will ever exist and then goes on to produce sentience so that a creature from within all this creation of life can look back and begin to understand the very universe it was hatched from.
Not bad.
So there is something in religion but good luck cleaning away thousands of years of dust and scum to get at any kind of truth, because mostly what you'll find is as you say, an expression of somebody else's vested interest.
