    Very well put Atomou.

I don't see a problem at all for our chosen government to make a political statement saying sorry for the previous injustices caused to the Aboriginal people.

Even though i was a Howard voter, it was always a sticking point with me why on earth it has taken so long for a government to finally come out and say they are "Sorry" for past abuses and in some cases attrocities against the original people of the land.

I understand all too well what some of the stolen generation have had to endure. Not all, but some.

A friend of the family is one of those people who was taken from her parents. She being the person she is went onto university and entered the political arena. Very strong willed woman. The rest of her family did not fair so well.

It was difficult for her in politics as she faced opposition in both the aboriginal community and the general political circle, even being ostricised from her own family as they felt she was siding with whites being in politics.

We have had many heated debates and yet, i respect her as a human being and not as an aboriginal. She has shone through hardships over and over again. She is no longer in the political circle, thankfully.

Considering we are no longer under the Menzies era, its about time that Australians brush of the sackcloth and move on.

A political statement by Rudd is a step forward imo.

    Cheers markco2
