I returned to this forum after a brief absence to find that the perennial threats of eternal death or torment - depending on who is making the statement - are still used to persuade people to embrace their beliefs.
It it not a case of well understood beliefs that are agreed by believers and that convincing evidence is provided that the beliefs are true.
I doubt that threats are a good approach to getting people to believe what you say. You may persuade people to comply but I doubt to truly believe.
