Dear Majella, can i ask why you work at advance the cause of aboringes.
The answer provide explains why we are in the situation we are. We get a few 'intellectuals' - perosns who do no hard work, provide no value to society apart from there sense superiority that they can right letters to govt and can influence similar like minded individuals to go along.
The majority, and I mean a lot more than 51% would think that given all the money and opportunities that aborigines have been given,they should be in abetter position. But it seems that their own communities and people are the main stumbling block to their advancement.
How can a so called gentle and one with the earth group of people can do what they do to their children. For mainstream Australia to respect aborigninesthey need to start respecting themselves. i could give you hundreds of instances where persons come to Australia, the luckest place in the world, with no education, no moeny, no english only to succeed, and by suceed mean to be a decent family man bringing up a family and protecting them from socities bad things. wealth is another issue. Just being decent is what should be aimed for.
And why cant aborigines do the same. The answer is that they have emotional scars that cant be healed until a sorry is provided. My fathers was orphaned when he was 3 when zealots killed his parents. He was looked after by family and became a decent man in Australia. no gvt handouts no anything, he just knew he had to do the right thing.
Aborigines need to accept responsible for their lack of respect and resolve that before the australia accepts them.
