I have tagged this message to T4P's post because that was the first to comment on the "zero tolerance" policy trial.
Firstly, my thanks to the HC membership in general for taking to heart the trust and goals of the approach. Unfortunately 4-5 members, for whatever reason, chose to ignore the warnings about implementation of the policy and were suspended.
Overall I judge the "trial" to have been a success and the desired outcome achieved.
Insofar as the "trial" lasting for week, the objective here was probably not properly/fully explained by myself.
In essence, what I had in mind was quite simply to get the CVI threads back onto a normal footing. Had the revised approach to moderation failed to correct things then I would need to look at some other process. Fortunately the vast majority of members have heeded the call and come to the party.
Rest assured, this does not mean that CVI is off my watch list. Quite the contrary, I will still closely monitor posts and at the first sign of problems again start to wield the big stick (lol).
Whilst to apply a zero tolerance policy to all stocks/threads may sound like a good idea, for logistical reasons this is not practical. Nor do I feel it is necessary.
To their detriment, some members have already discovered the mods. are taking a less tolerant approach to personal flaming. This mainly applies to offenders brought to our attention via the TOU report function.
Given the (IMHO) success of the CVI "trial" it may well be similar "harsh" guidelines are introduced for other stocks in the future.
Again, thanks for your help.
