IMO Silicon works like earth, and during nuclear radiation, silicon can survive due to high melting temperature of silicon . Melting point of Silicon is 1440 degree Celsius. On the other hand, other chips are made of using metal filament or materials those can't sustain that type of temperature.
Melting temperature of different metals are as per below;
Tellurium- 321
CA- 839
PR-931
MN-1244
AU-961 and
SILICON- 1440 , all figures are in degree Celsius.
(Of course the temperature of Nuclear explosion at the spot remains around millions of degree Celsius, but after some distance when thermal effect reduces that situation I am talking about)
