AJ, you want to know the "Real Reason" the LAMP's in Malaysia? Why not process it at Mt Weld?
Several off the top of my head:
1. 80% of the materials used do NOT come from Mt Weld. Readily available at Gebeng.
2 Needs lots of water which is in short supply in the desert. Electricity too.
3. Employ locals and save the costs of FIFO workers.
4. Close to the main end markets.
5. Got great tax breaks. (Also had approvals to build in Oz but they preferred Malaysia.)
Make sense now??
