As an investing novice (who bought in at +60c), I have learnt a lot about how little control share holders actually have in a company, and how some management can just use a company at a vehicle to sit back and suck the teat. I suppose the lack of recourse is one lesson, the other is that when some people tell you so, you should really comprehend if it is actually a dud. This one has set me back a couple years.
