this is an important issue and one not well understood in australia. Paladin issued a clarifying statment in its quarterly to assure everyone it had enough power for itself.
the lack of electricity is a regional issue and it comes from the fact that south africa used to be an exporter of energy/ electricity to adjacent countries but now it has trouble generating enough for itself. It has got to the point where south africa has rolling blackouts to effectively allocate timeslots to different regions. (at least you know when the power is going down)
this has been a big problem for the pgm and gold miners in the region. note your article mentioned uramin as being ok aka AREVA. helps to be a big boy sometimes. the juniors who hope to get mines up and running well....thats another story!
