voltaire....hmmm....why is "assimilation" assumed to be the only way forward. many cultures have happily (well, most of the time) coexisted in australia over the century or so.
i'm sure we all agree that sadly, history cannot be undone.....but through recognising past injustices, we may finally have a government who is willing to deal with current injustices more humanely.
whilst not perfect systems, if the canadians and the u.s. indigenous people can be a system of self determination, why should australian aborigines expect anything less.
