Morning 'mum'
No I didn't ask the question because I knew that I would receive nothing new relating to this as it would be information that would be released to the market if there were anything new to report..
But I have been in contact with the company again since my last post.
More specifically I was asking questions relating to potential competition for example the app in the works that was brought to my attention by
@vwboy as I wanted their opinion regarding this - "ApneaApp" developed at the university of Washington medical Sleep Centre. the app that - "will emit sonar signals modulated to specific frequencies to detect the user’s body’s movements and use them to track their breathing."
There were key points raised regarding pros and cons comparing our potential app to there's. The ApneaApp has many issues that will be hard to address to maintain accuracy levels at a high standard. I searched far and wide to find anything relating to the accuracy levels of "ApneaApp" I couldn't find anything in writing specifically but I did come across a YouTube video with a doctor from the Washington Sleep Centre stating that it was 98% accuracy. This level of accuracy however was only based on 44 patients! Lol
! Now wonder they haven't published anything that I could find as that is laughable based on only 44 patients THAT IS NOT CLINICAL EVIDENCE! Hundreds of patients would have to be studied for the APP to be statistically significant! And.... Not to mention those patients would have been studied in the laboratory in optimal conditions.
Let's face it at night most of us will toss and turn, if ones body is facing the opposite way to the phone how on earth will that give you accurate results? During the winter months we will have thick doona covers covering our body- there is no possible way an App that emit sonar signals will work in this situation.
Remember the key thing to take home from the RAP study to date is that the samples that's produced accuracy of levels of around 90% were NOT CLEANED UP! On 700 + patience. Sooooo how do you like them apples?! TK thought it was very important to publish those results without any cleaning process to show and prove that in a 'real' scenario it works! So at the moment we're going to be looking at getting approval for a screening test however during the next update I expect that the announcement will have the refined results from the first sleep apnea study showing a significant increase in the acrasy levels based on the cleaning of the app- as in removing the ones that had corrupted sound recordings.
Let's face it gents if your missus tells you to go and do something, you go and do it! As the old saying goes: " happy wife, happy life" so if she tells you that she cares about you and wants you to go into another room for the night because she wants to make sure that your breathing sounds or snoring issue is accurately recorded overnight to make sure you're fit and ready for action
, then to avoid any confrontation I think for one night you could sleep in the spare room.. On top of that you would get clear accurate results. In saying that however there will be prompts before one starts to study to ensure that all is in order for an accurate recording. If one disregards the prompts then you would have no choice but to pay over and over again until you get it right..
Separate submissions would have to be made for a screening test vs a diagnostic tool.
In my opinion there is a good chance that after phase 2 of the sleep study trial, upon accurate results we would submit as a diagnostic tool as there is no point submitting for a screening test and a diagnostic tool. So at the end of the day it will come down to how accurate it is to justify it being used as a screening tool or a diagnostic tool...
BUT at what price do we charge?! Well if this is going to just be a screening tool we would be looking at around the $50 mark per use. Should we make it cheaper?! As one would experience higher volumes of downloads if it was say the same cost as the snorelab app as an example.. hmmmm maybe, but....
If this proves to be a diagnostic tool then we can get away with charging something like $500 per use. Wham bam thankyou ma'am
! I'm leaning towards a DIAGNOSTIC TOOL IMO
!
As we all know lots to get excited about over the next few weeks as a tsunami of announcements are due for release...
Cheers
