Nothing gets decided at a directions hearing other than a direction to file documents. In this case a defence.

The next directions hearing will direct the parties per a timetable for each party including each and every defendant to file evidence and then file replies to evidence.

The merits case won't begin for another 12-18 months after all the evidence has been filed and served and after the interlocutory applications have been heard. Such applications will probably be for interlocutory injunctions by chm and various (read probably numerous) procedural applications and declarations by mmx and the other respondents.

I hope chm has deep pockets cause its gonna hurt financially as this case starts to gear up in 2008-09 when they start to lose some of the early applications and have costs awarded against them. QCs and commercial solicitors are v epensive particularly when the plaintiff has to pay the respondent's legals.

The first test on costs will be important. Lets see if chm can stand the heat.

The case will not finish until sometime in 2010.
