in again with my 2cents worth...........graphs tracking property values to shares since 1926 and starting from the same base have ended up in the same position........both at highs, in the meantime there have been dips and troughs in both of them............answer = some are either into one or the other.........they both end up in a smilar position....others like myself have a bit of both.....we all end up equal in the end.....EXCEPT for the people who do not have either........they appear to miss out, EXCEPT for the money they save in the cost of home ownership versus renting.......there are graphs that show they might save by renting........but I say they miss out on the capital gains......if they decide to sell !.... and a lot of people buy their own home becuase they want to live and work in that suburb...........they dont want a landlord to up the rent, kick them out.........so its not an investment to them...........its the cost of a lifestyle...... second point........bb says its his right to have an affordable home...........well I disagree, its not a right, its how hard you believe in acquiring that home.......and what risk you are prepared to take, what pain you are prepared to go thru to get it,........there are affordable homes out there, plenty of them around 250,000 but they are in the outer suburbs ................but seems like some people want to live in the inner suburbs, which cost a lot more. another point.........molonksi has a career, he chose it, he enjoys it........its like helping people acquire what they want........its also a business, he has always been honest about what he does....... in regards to bb, apparently he was a stockbroker earning good money............he would have had the opportunity to make a killing on shares, still does, and put some of it into property, if he wished.......... point, they are both in a financial industry which has been rising for over 100 years....... lots of reasons and answers in relation to housing, and lifestyles, its not just about negative gearing or capital gains free homes............ a lot of parents today are wearing the cost of allowing their adult children to live at home.....parents are subsidising the kids.........and in the future, its happening in the uk and europe now, 3 generations are living together......its more efficient and affordable.
the last point is what business is bb in now ???? come on bb, own up to what u do.....
