The US have manufactured a soft commodities boom. And why wouldn't they?
They have been trading grain at cost price for decades, for oil, to people who hate their guts. Now they will have a better terms of trade balance, the food short nations can pay up, or starve.
The US will still be the food bowl of the world in 50 years, but the middle East will be nearly out of oil by then. Imagine how much they will hate the west by then?
