Mercedes-Benz to electrify the ENTIRE Mercedes portfolio. Source: Business Insider 1/6/2018
Now M-B customers will have a choice of at least one electric alternative in every Mercedes-Benz model series.
My take on the above is that, given M-B will continue with traditional ICE models alongside its new Electric versions (in every model) that they are commencing a strategy of playing one off against the other - winner take all. Simply put, if they find that their EV models are outselling their ICE models by a comfortable margin, then they will discontinue ICE's. That said, given what we know about the overwhelming positives of this disruptive technology, I have no doubt as to the ultimate victor. And to the victor goes the spoils.
On another front, BMW have just launched their new wireless charger for EVs (Source: Business Insider 1/6/2018). A little black box from the look of it that you just plug into the house socket and lay on the garage floor, then park your EV over it and it charges your car in 3.5 hours.
My take on that is: traditional PUBLIC charging stations will become less visually prominent. Secreted into the blacktop of public car parks you won't even have to think about the charging procedure, given the wireless connection and car computer will debit the cost direct to your bank account.
Like all of us in the know of this emerging EV/battery revolution I continue to be amazed by the shear speed of its dramatic growth. Just a year ago who among us could have imagined that almost every car manufacturer would enter the EV space, or the battery peaker grid expansion and household battery expansion. Or that many of the big plane manufacturers would be developing electric planes, or that ships would be electric, or, or, or, or,...………………… So, if this is an example of what can happen in just one year, just imagine what will happen in 5/10 years into the future, and the demand it will place on lithium production, and by extension PLS.
Prepare yourself, for something better this way electric comes![]()
