Raising interest rates is an extremely blunt instrument in dealing with inflation - booming economy, low unemployement, inflation around 3% - omg - let's whack it with a huge stick.
Re immigration - in that figure of 177,000 how many are temp visas to fill labour shortages? I think about 40,000?
Take out another 70,000 who leave the country every year - what's the problem?
