It was an excitable call, which would have been valid if there was a confirmation, but there was no confirmation, no pattern is 100%. However calling 12.5 was naive. Would have been better calling the gap at 16.
You need to take other indicators into account and maybe a basic understanding of the company itself, where it as come from, what it has delivered, is the management under or over achieving, where it sits against its peer, what its cash position and is the commodity or product hot / cold.
