    dave, given the practice ceased decades ago is in itself acknowledgement that the policy was not achieving the correct outcomes.
    The point I was making is that some peoples minds seemed to be stalled, consumed by events of the past, instead of concentrating on the reality of today and focusing on the promise of tomorrow.
    I think if you look for differences between individuals who are successful and those who are failures, the successful person is the one who is able to put the mistakes and failures behind him, whilst the failure allows them to overcome him. We all need to maintain momentum in our lives in order to progress, and the constant lamenting of past mistakes doesn't allow you to do that.
    On the other hand is it merely an indication or whether the person is a vindictive or the forgiving type?
