Looks like another MTN stuff up. Just like what they did with their Myponga project also in SA, which they ended up having to walk away from.
MTN really screwed the pooch on this one, and its probably just the excuse the SA Gov were looking for to get them out of Mt Gee, a licence they probably shouldn’t of allowed in the first place.
The Sprig’s have a strong mining heritage and along with the indigenous stakeholders find that part of the world sacred to them. I am sure they would have supported the project if the right thing was being done. Now MTN will probably have the EPA and dept of environment and heritage along with the Mines dept all over them. And just wait till Garret gets his mits on this one.
I doubt there will any further exploration or mining development allowed at Mt Gee. Lets just hope this doesnt also impact on the Stella/Heathgate expansion nearby.
