It's the price of land that's been inflated compared to commodities consumer products and the cost of houses themselves. Like I said 1974 a new hq Holden was $3000, dad bought a building block in Frankston around then for $5000, so about 1.5 cars. For comparison now an average block on outskirts of Melbourne is half the size and about the price of 10 new cars!
