you're just picking on something you don't like or don't see the inherent value in.
not everything can be valued by the dollar amount.

self-sufficiency is just a myth.
you might like to think you're self-sufficient but you're not.
you rely on other systems, other taxpayers for infrastructure you use.
you pay what you're made to pay and then what you choose to pay but that doesn't mean you're self-sufficient
life doesn't work that way, society won't either.

In principle, I believe ALL government funded ventures need to be reassessed to determine what can be made self sufficient, (whether fully or partially).

That is were a discussion comes in to it, to determine what can be and what should be.
