All nurses during training must do placement, for which in NSW they are not paid. I was on an equivalent program to someone training to be a registered nurse.
As for the Australian government means testing my assets which are held in trust offshore, it was not possible for them to do so. I would have gladly bought more of my money in as it helps fast track getting residency but it is a difficult and expensive process.
I'm not concerned about integrating with Australian's I can read, write and speak the language better than most. Besides my local community is mostly new Australian's with similar grievances to myself, so I will have plenty of support.
