A single 10 cent coin will buy you almost three of its shares, you've probably never heard of its managing director - which incidentally is a chap called Cliff Lawrenson - and it is struggling for survival in a mining world where size definitely matters.
And yet Atlas Iron, a junior Western Australian iron ore miner with operations in the Pilbara, has suddenly found itself under a sharp spotlight. The company is now at the centre of an intriguing corporate battle involving two of Australia's best-known mining names - the billionaires Andrew Forrest and Gina Rinehart.
A third force is also in the contest, the WA-based company Mineral Resources, headed by Chris Ellison. Mr Ellison may not be a billionaire, but according to the Australian Financial Review rich list his fortune is worth about $783 million...
